Dr. Butera graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois in biologic sciences. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Scholastic Honoroary. He then completed his internship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, and residency training at the University of Wisconsin Center for Health Sciences, where he served as chief resident.
In addition to his training, Dr. Butera also participated in a clinical research project in fluorescein angiography at Northwestern University, co-authored several medical publications, and completed a clinical preceptorship at Guy’s Hospital in London, England. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Butera has decades of world-class expertise, making him one of the best eye doctors in Thousand Oaks, California.
