Eyecare Associates - Albany
Eye Care & Retina Treatment in Albany, Oregon
About Eyecare Associates of Albany
Our Albany clinic pairs everyday optometry with medical and retinal care, so patients managing a serious eye condition don’t have to leave the mid-valley to get treated.
Day to day, that means comprehensive vision exams, contact lens exams and fittings, and an optical department stocked with current frames and lens technology. It also means medical eye examinations for diagnosing, treating, and monitoring eye disease and infection, foreign-body removal, and YAG laser capsulotomy for patients whose vision has clouded following cataract surgery.
Where Albany goes further is retina care. Our physicians administer intravitreal injections for conditions including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and we offer LDD treatment for patients with persistent dry eye. Photobiomodulation therapy for dry age-related macular degeneration is coming to this location soon. LASIK and other refractive surgery are not performed here; our team can refer you to an NVISION surgical center if you’re considering it.

Vision Correction Procedures in Albany
Today's life-changing procedures make it possible to improve your vision to 20/20—or better.
EVO ICL™ (Implantable Collamer Lens)
Say goodbye to glasses and contacts with EVO ICL™! This advanced procedure is an excellent option for patients who aren’t LASIK candidates. By placing a biocompatible lens in your eye—without removing the natural lens—EVO ICL™ corrects nearsightedness and astigmatism, providing clear, long-lasting vision.
Cataract Surgery
Cloudy vision holding you back? Our advanced cataract surgery, featuring laser-assisted technology and lifestyle lenses, can restore your sight and help you enjoy life’s moments clearly again.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) replaces your eye’s natural lens with a clear, artificial one—improving your vision and reducing your dependence on glasses or contacts.
Sometimes called Custom Lens Exchange (or CLE), RLE is popular option for adults over 40 who want to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism—and it’s a smart, preventative solution before cataracts ever develop.
Other Procedures
Intacs® Corneal Implants for Keratoconus
The surgical implantation of intracorneal ring segments or Intacs® is a minimally invasive surgical option to improve the corneal shape in patients with keratoconus.
Intacs® are surgically inserted into a thin channel created by a femtosecond laser in the periphery of the cornea. Intacs® is also known as surgical implantation of intracorneal ring segments.
Pterygium Surgery
Pterygium surgery is performed under topical anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
Dry Eye Treatment
Dry eye is an irritating, painful, and common condition in which the eye fails to properly produce quality tears. When left untreated, it may lead to ulcers and scars on the cornea.
Depending on the severity of your condition, there are a variety of treatments to relieve dry eyes.
Valeda Photobiomodulation
Valeda Photobiomodulation is the first FDA-authorized light-based treatment designed specifically for patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Using gentle pulses of red, yellow, and near-infrared light, Valeda helps energize the cells in your retina, reduce inflammation, and slow the progression of disease. Clinical studies show that patients treated with Valeda not only maintain their vision longer but can also experience meaningful improvements in visual acuity.
The treatment is quick, noninvasive, and completely painless—no needles, drops, or anesthesia are required. Each session takes just a few minutes, and a short series of treatments can help preserve your eyesight and protect against future vision loss. Valeda offers new hope for people living with dry AMD by treating the root causes of retinal damage and supporting healthier vision for years to come.
Cornea Transplantation
When irreversible damage to the cornea is caused, from either infection or trauma, corneal transplant or Keratoplasty may be the ideal option
Comprehensive Vision Exams
A full check of how well you see and how your eyes are working together, ending with an accurate prescription for glasses or contacts. It’s also the visit where we catch early signs of problems you can’t feel yet, which is why we recommend it annually even when nothing seems wrong.
Medical Eye Exams
More than a vision check, a medical eye exam looks for disease and infection — glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic changes, and conditions that show no symptoms until they’ve already done damage. Whether we’re investigating something new or monitoring a diagnosis you already have, we track what’s changing and treat it early.
Foreign Body Removal
Metal shavings, wood, glass, grit — when something gets embedded in the eye or under the lid, it needs to come out promptly to prevent scarring and infection. We remove foreign bodies in-office, usually the same day you call.
YAG Laser Capsulotomy
If your vision has turned cloudy again months or years after cataract surgery, the lens implant isn’t the problem — it’s the thin membrane behind it. YAG laser capsulotomy clears that membrane in a few painless minutes, and most patients see the difference right away.
Contact Lens Exams & Fittings
A contact lens prescription isn’t the same as a glasses prescription; it requires measuring the curve and surface of your eye so the lens sits correctly and stays comfortable all day. We fit standard soft lenses as well as specialty options for astigmatism, presbyopia, and eyes that have struggled with contacts before.
Retinal Injections
For retinal conditions like wet macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, medication delivered directly into the eye can slow vision loss and, in many cases, recover some of what’s been lost. We administer these injections on site, so ongoing treatment doesn’t mean ongoing travel.
