Dr. Charlene Tran is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive eye care with a focus on cataract surgery. She completed her ophthalmology residency training at the University of Southern California (USC) and Los Angeles General Medical Center, one of the nation’s busiest trauma centers, where she gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic conditions ranging from cataracts and dry eye disease to glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.

Dr. Tran earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors as well as distinctions in research and teaching. She received her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from the University of California, Irvine, with a minor in Psychology.

Throughout her training, Dr. Tran has been actively involved in ophthalmic research and academic medicine. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations in areas including oculoplastic surgery, thyroid eye disease, orbital disorders, ophthalmic ultrasound, and surgical education. Her academic work has been presented at national ophthalmology conferences and published in leading ophthalmic journals.

In addition to her clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Tran has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient advocacy, education, and community service. She has served in leadership roles within national ophthalmology organizations and has participated in programs dedicated to expanding access to eye care for underserved communities. As a physician, Dr. Tran places a strong emphasis on listening and understanding what matters most to each patient. She is committed to providing personalized care tailored to each patient’s unique needs and vision goals, helping them make informed decisions and achieve their best possible vision.

Dr. Tran is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She is fluent in English and also speaks medical Spanish and intermediate Thai.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Tran enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and exploring new restaurants.
