Dr. Andres Parra, M.D. joined Eye Associates of South Texas in 2024. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, graduating at the top of his class. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned UCLA Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles, California, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Parra served as Adjunct Faculty at University of Houston College of Medicine and Optometry up until 2024, sharing his knowledge and expertise with students as well as other doctors in the community.

Born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in Texas, Dr. Parra found his calling in medicine at a very young age serving as an interpreter at his mother’s doctor’s appointments, where he recognized the massive impact a doctor can make on a patient’s life. He specializes in refractive laser cataract surgery, LASIK/PRK, and refractive lens exchange as well as the latest advancements in MIGS (microinvasive glaucoma surgery) and comprehensive eye care. He is passionate about helping his patients achieve the best possible vision to suit their individual needs and lifestyles using cutting-edge technology.

Dr. Parra is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance.

In his free time, Dr. Parra enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his wife and their daughter.
